About Me
Hi! I’m Emma Gwilliam — a junior at BYU studying Experience Design & Management, a storyteller at heart, and someone who believes that people are at the center of every meaningful experience.
My life has been shaped by three things: my faith, my family, and my love for creating experiences that uplift others.
Family & Entrepreneurship
I grew up in a family of five, the daughter of an entrepreneur who turned our dinner table into a brainstorming arena. Domain names, logos, brand ideas — these were our family conversations. I remember the thrill of buying my first domain name and realizing that building something from scratch was more than exciting—it felt like home.
Those childhood moments sparked my love for business, problem-solving, and taking ideas from concept to execution.
Faith & Service
I spent 18 months as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern France and Switzerland — an experience that changed how I see people, leadership, and myself. I learned a new language, navigated unfamiliar cities, and discovered how powerful it is to put people first. Those months refined my communication skills, strengthened my courage, and taught me to lead with compassion. Most importantly, they deepened my relationship with Jesus Christ, and I carry that joy into everything I do.
Design & Creativity
Today, I channel those early lessons into human-centered design. Whether I’m leading UX projects at PodUp, organizing a space so it truly works for someone, or designing retreat experiences for vulnerable communities, I approach every project with curiosity and intent. My CliftonStrengths — Belief, Individualization, Achiever, Ideation, and Arranger — guide my process. I love understanding people, generating ideas, and shaping them into systems that help others succeed.
A Life Full of Music & Movement
Outside of school and work, I’m a musician and dancer. I play five instruments and love ballroom dance — the kind of hobbies that remind me to stay expressive, stay grounded, and stay connected to joy. I also love to embroider, cross stitch, cook, and craft. I love to learn new skills and try new things.
At My Core
I’m someone who believes in potential — in people, in purpose, and in the small and simple steps that create big change. Whether I’m designing experiences, building a podcast, or learning something new, my goal is always the same:
Create experiences that help people feel seen, supported, and capable of becoming who God knows they can be.
